Finally COD Gets Called Out

Call Of Duty is probably the MOST recognized and best selling first person shooter in history but nobody really knows why. Yes, they made Modern Warfare,MW2, Black Ops, and the new MW3 but nothing new has been brought to gamers. They NEED to change anything in the game. The game is the same over and over and guess what? It still sells more then any other game when it releases. A recent article on IGN touches on key points of COD's makeover tips.
The obvious big moments in COD went from being "WOW I just fell off this collapsing building and survived" to "Ok another set piece that takes away from the intense moment. Another thing each game lacks is character development. They focus more on making the characters look like badasses and give no emotional connection to any character. So, if a main character gets wounded or killed it doesn't really effect us like it should.
Multiplayer is another thing that they need to touch up on. Call Of Duty Elite is supposed to give you more maps over time so why would they rush and make and MW4 or Black Ops 2? It would make no sense to make basically the same game instead of to make updates and work on the game they already have out. But honestly they will probably make one of those two titles, it be basically the same game, and still be the most sold game of the year.
In my opinion COD is pretty much a one dimensional game. It brings nothing to the table but racking up killstreaks and that is it. Mitch Dyer talked about in his article that the developers should open their minds a little more. Maybe some vehicles, air combat or pretty much anything to keep up with the new FPSs looking to knock COD of its throne. I think this should be a wake up call to COD. New FPS are looking to rise above them and I think that if something isn't done to change the game up a new best selling FPS is soon to come.
