When old games actually come to USE

Okay gamers, do you have old 360/PS3/PS2 games? If you answered yes, KEEP READING! Are you still trading your games at GameStop in desperation to getting a discount on the latest release? THEN PLEASE, KEEP READING! Some of us here at CrashPad took a little trip to Best Buy in order to see if we could get better trade in values for our old games. The reaction from the sales associate was priceless when she saw us leap for joy at the sight of $5, $8, and $3 emerging from the monitor screen. She was actually in awe. These were our trade in values:

  • Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe $5.00
  • Greg Hastings Paintball 2 $8.00
  • Armored Core 4 $3.00
  • Dragon Age Origins $5.00
  • Far Cry 2 $3.00
  • Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 $5.00
  • Resistance Fall of Man $2.00
  • Halo Reach $4.00
  • Armored Core For Answer $4.00
  • Guitar Hero World Tour Game Only $2.00
Total Value: $43.00. What was even more awesome was the promotion deal we received. Final Total Value of $53.75. This may seem minute to the naked eye, but considering the factors of the age of the games and the comparison of GameStop's demand, we got an amazing deal. You know what else is great? You can get a dollar from playstation 2 games. Come on! You won't be playing those games anyway. If you sign up for Best Buy's gamers club for $14.99, you will receive an extra percentage off your trade-in's. You will also be sent a gamers magazine with coupons that can give you up to $20 off certain titles. We strongly recommend that you start trading your games with best buy and receive an overall better experience with your future Trade-in's. So gather up those dusty games and bring them to Best Buy!

GTA III for your mobile device

good times good times

It seems like GTA fans are going to get an early Christmas present this year because tomorrow, Thursday December 17, 2011 Rockstar games will be coming out with a 10 year anniversary edition of grand theft auto 3 for mobile devices such as the iPhone and android. it will be available for $4.99 on the app store and android marketplace. So now you can own one of the most renouwn games of the century for just under 5 dollars and, start working for thugs, go on a rampage in tank, run from the cops, pick up chicks and when you are bored, kill poor innocent lives(KIDS PLEASE, DO THAT SOMEWHERE ELSE)  the best part of this, it's all at the tip of your fingers . Fans of this famous series shouldn't have to whine about the price, considering the portability for the full classic. I for one played Grand Theft Auto 3 like there was no tomorrow, i could easily sink multiple hours when it was first released for PlayStation 2. And i know that Rockstar games have been coming out with a lot of bad sequels and random spinoffs of the GTA series, but at least you know what your getting yourself into with this one.  But you are going to have to wait and see the changes they've made, if any. Most likely there have been no changes to the storyline. Here is a list of devices that the game will be supported on:

Apple iOS Devices: iPad 1 & 2, iPhone 4 & 4S, iPod touch 4th Generation

Android Phones: HTC Rezound, LG Optimus 2x, Motorola Atrix 4G, Motorola Droid X2, Motorola Photon 4G, Samsung Galaxy R, T-Mobile G2x

Android Tablets: Acer Iconia, Asus Eee Pad Transformer, Dell Streak 7, LG Optimus Pad, Motorola Xoom, Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 and 10.1, Sony Tablet S, Toshiba Thrive

Gran Turismo 5 2.02 update and DLC! visit out Gaming news section for detailed information

Will Smith back for MIB 3

As some of you may know, the new men in black 3 trailer is out. We haven’t heard of this series in over 9 years! The trailer looks good, and the movie will be opening May 25, 2012. I was young when Men in Black 2 came out, so I might have to watch first two movies before I go see this one, I’m sure some of you at home may want to do the same thing. No word on what the plot will be about, but it should continue on where the second movie left off. The trailer reveals that Will Smith is going to be time traveling in order to find "K" (Tommy Lee Jones). The trailer shows some aliens, but not many. MIB 3 will be starring Will Smith, Tommy Lee Jones, and Josh Brolin. Smith seems to get back into character easily, as it has been so long since the last Men in Black. As for Tommy Lee Jones, I can’t say the same because the trailer doesn’t show much of his role. We just have to wait for next trailer, or, when the movie hits theaters. MIB 3 shows a new time travel idea that was not used in the previous movies. It might work out, but then again it might be another sequel that fails, MISERABLY. Josh Brolin plays a younger version of Agent K (Tommy Lee Jones). Men In Black 3 will appear in 3D, IMAX 3D, and 2D. In case you haven’t watched the trailer, here it is

Uncharted, anywhere, anytime

Uncharted: Golden Abyss

Even though the PS VITA won't be hitting stores until February 22, 2012, multiple titles have already been announced, one of them being, Uncharted: Golden Abyss. Since the birth of Sony's PS3, The Uncharted series has been very successful franchise; having already developed three titles. And with the PS VITA's release coming soon, it's not a surprise that Uncharted will in your pockets soon enough. CrashPad Games is excited to see how this version will play out. E3 2011 brought us some gameplay videos of this title, the game’s graphics look fantastic for a portable system, it almost looks like a pre-PS3 console. Controls in the game also look like an interesting thing to play with, especially with PS VITA touch capabilities. The campaign is said to be completely different from the other Uncharted titles, as many PSP games have done before like God of War, Metal Gear, so on and so forth . Uncharted: Golden Abyss has recently released a trailer for its controls, the trailer shows how you can pick the way you play the game. Uncharted will support traditional controls, or you can use the new PS VITA touch screen. I think the touch screen looks like a nice feature to try out, but at the end of the day, I see myself playing with traditional controls because, well, the touch screen doesn't seem to reach my standards. Another cool thing shown in the trailer is the sniper mode, here you can go into a sniper scope, like you would with any other game, but instead of using the analog sticks, you can move the PS VITA itself using its built in motion sensor to control where you place the crosshairs, that also seems really cool. Here is the trailer, in case you haven't seen it

Early Access to Star Wars the Old republic

Today, December 13, 2011. Those who pre-ordered Star Wars the Old Republic(MMORPG) back in July, will be able to get a taste of the game a week before it's release. The Early access began today at 7AM, and will end Monday, December 19 at 10:01PM. This long anticipated game has been in development since 2006. It has been said, that EA and Bioware have smacked a 135 million dollar bill on the game's development costs. Kinda makes you wonder what the hell they did to the game. But, judging by the reactions from closed beta testers, the game was definitely worth to wait. Star Wars the Old Republic, available for PC and only PC December 20, 2011. Dragons that fly. . . FORWARDS

Well console players, looks like your good ol' dragons are flying the way they should be. Bethesda's 1.3 patch for consoles have finally fixed the problem with the dragons flying backwards as well as many other bugs. But does that make the game perfect? No, not really. It seems that many players, including myself, are still experiencing noticeable lag when in large cities and when there is a lot of sh** going on. We just have to wait for the next patch. The list of the 1.3 patch fixes below:
  • Fixed Radiant Story incorrectly filling certain roles
  • Fixed magic resistances not calculating properly
  • Fixed issue with placing books on bookshelves inside player purchased homes
  • Fixed dragon animation issues with saving and loading
  • Fixed Y-look input to scale correctly with frame rate

Dear Santa...

With Christmas just around the corner, do you think you need a little spice into your gaming? Well, look no further because 3D gaming is your next step to success, and... possibly emptying your pockets. BUT is buying a 3D tv really worth it, or is it just a huge gimmick. With 3D movies now appearing in your local theater, we should all know that 3D is pretty much just two images beside each other that create a KICKASS effect. But in order to see this, you have to wear funky glasses that tricks the eye into seeing them in three dimensions. For those who don't know what I mean, stop by your local BestBuy and check out the television aisle. As of now, there are two types of 3D sets on the market, Active, and Passive sets. The difference in these TVs are in the glasses, with Active 3D you need Active shutter glasses. These glasses flicker, sending different signals to each eye and syncing them with the images on the TV, Keep in mind, that Shutter glasses require batteries and and cost you $60 and up. YIKES. Where as passive glasses, require no batteries and can cost you a smacking 15 bucks for... TWO glasses, big win for you budget watchers. I know, so which one is better? well with both sets you have your pros and cons(okay get to the point) while Passive sets can be alittle cheaper, you may find that active sets provide a slightly better image quality. but with Passive sets, 3D movies can be viewed by larger groups. though each set may have its ups and downs, Both create superior 2D images. so to wrap this up, the type of tv you get is merely decided by the way YOU use them. My gamers may lean more towards the Active panels because of the slightly better image while viewing 3D, but my social viewers may choose the passive technology because of the ability to watch 3D with friends and family at a slightly cheaper price. But before we end this post let me remind you, to always research your TV before purchasing them. Thank you my fellow nerds and friends, and have a good one!
